Rimbach-Russ Group

Home Labs and Groups Rimbach-Russ Group

The overall focus of the group is to bridge the gap between experiments and quantum information theory. The group has close collaborations with several experimental and theoretical teams both locally and across Europe and the US. One particular focus of the group is driving the transition from prototype to practical quantum computers. This involves understanding limitations arising from the environment investigating solutions. Such solutions can range from improved designs for the host structure, over optimal points of operations (sweet spots), until optimal control techniques to counter the effects on qubits.

Maximilian Rimbach-Russ obtained his PhD in theoretical quantum physics from the University of Konstanz in 2019 under the supervision of Prof. Guido Burkard. Following that, he completed a 2.5-year (2019-2021) Postdoctoral position in the research groups led by Prof. Lieven Vandersypen and Prof. Menno Veldhorst at QuTech. In 2021, Maximilian was honoured with a Veni Talent Fellowship from NWO. By 2023, he had progressed to the role of group leader at QuTech, where he currently leads the group for semiconductor qubit modelling.
