On Saturday 22 May 2021 software engineer André Brochado Pinto dos Reis passed away as a result of long illness. André was a valued member of QuTech and the Quantum Internet Division. He was a gifted programmer and a cheerful colleague ready to share his passion about cooking, playing piano or technology. We will deeply miss him.

While finishing his masters degree in Informatics and Computer Engineering at the Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto, Portugal, André won the second SimulaQron competition with QuaRT a software for reliable communications. He started working at QuTech in October 2019 as a Software Engineer in the Elkouss Group. His objective was to research and develop an efficient classical post processing suite for a real Quantum Key Distribution system.
