Yaroslav (Kyiv, Ukraine, 1995) studied Physics at KNU in Kyiv and received an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics at Leiden University. His interests range from condensed matter theory to NISQ methods in quantum computing. During his Ph.D. years, he has proven the digital quantum version of the linked-cluster theorem for ground state ansatzes and co-developed the framework for digital quantum cooling via a single ancillary qubit.
In May of 2022, Yaroslav joined Barbara Terhal’s group at TU Delft to work on the mathematics of state preparation algorithms and quantum error correction. This appointment is shared with QuSoft in Amsterdam, where he is supervised by Jonas Helsen.
Apart from science, Yaroslav is passionately interested in philosophy, chess, hiking, and - occasionally - improvisational theatre.
