Francisco is originally from Portugal. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Engineering Physics from the University of Lisbon. In 2023 he received his PhD from TU Delft under the supervision of Stephanie Wehner, where he studied the performance of near-term quantum-repeater networks with the goal of bridging the gap between physical experiments and quantum-networking
applications. Since 2024 he has been member of a pre-spinout team at TU Delft, developing real-world use cases and applications of entanglement-based networks.
