Francisco da Silva

Room B109
Wehner Group

Francisco Silva (Gaia, Portugal, 1995) received a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Physics from Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon. He joined QuTech as a PhD student in Stephanie Wehner’s group in September 2019. Since then, Francisco has been a member of the Blueprint team, where he uses simulation and optimization tools to help come up with a detailed plan for how quantum networks can be brought to country and eventually continental scale.

He enjoys doing sports, mainly tennis and football, and reading, some of his favorite authors being David Foster Wallace and Fernando Pessoa. Francisco also enjoys writing, which he does with limited success, and learning languages, Dutch being of course the current challenge.
