Alessio Miranda received his master degree in electrical engineering and his Ph.D. in Physics from the Polytechnic University of Milan, Italy. He then worked as a research associate for CEMES-CNRS, Weizmann Institute of Science, Tyndall National Institute, University Duisburg-Essen, EPFL, IMEC, CNR-Nano, and TU/e, where he worked on a number of research projects related to the optical and electrical properties of low-dimensional systems (graphene, MXene, Si/Ge heterostructures, and quantum dots), surface acoustic wave based MEMS for optical and sensing applications, integrated photonics and colorimetry from both an experimental (fabrication, electrical and optical characterization) and computational approach. His proudest achievement so far has been to be one of the very first to characterize single layer free standing MXene.

Since January 2025 he has been working in the quantum internet division of QuTech and EWI on the scalable fabrication and characterization of diamond nanophotonics and M/NEMS in a joint postdoctoral position between the Quantum Integration Technology (QIT) group led by Ryoichi Ishihara and the Groups led by Dr. Nur and Dr. Errando-Herranz.
