New research and education partnership
The Dutch king and queen visited the University of Waterloo and witnessed two of the world’s leading innovation universities announcing a new research and education collaboration that aims to advance the field of quantum computing.
The University of Waterloo in Canada and Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands signed a new memorandum of understanding that allows exchange opportunities for students, staff and researchers, collaboration on research projects and the exchange of research publications and reports in quantum information.
The royal couple’s visit to the University of Waterloo was concluded with a presentation and a visit to the Institute for Quantum Computing, where work is being carried out to develop a quantum computer. Professor Leo Kouwenhoven of TU Delft’s QuTech Institute (Dutch National Icon) was also present. The QuTech Institute will be collaborating much closer with the Canadian Quantum Institute to develop the quantum computer.
