Matthew Steinberg studied his Bachelor’s degree at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, USA, and his Master’s degree at the Niels Bohr Institute in Copenhagen, Denmark. After a year-long internship at the quantum technology startup HQS Quantum Simulations, Matthew started working for Carmen Almudever’s Group in February 2020. His PhD research involves fault-tolerant qubit-mapping algorithms for quantum error correction codes.

In his spare time, Matthew enjoys a lot of different activities: sports (cycling, running, swimming, hiking, gym workouts, soccer and indoor climbing), traveling, learning foreign languages, cooking, and reading.
