Martijn completed both his bachelor and master Applied Physics at the TU Delft. His bachelor thesis was centered around extracting the dielectric response function from EELS, which he completed in the group of Sonia Conesa-Boj in 2019. During his master thesis, which he completed in the Andersen Lab at QuTech, he worked on several aspects of the experimental measurement system that is used within the lab. After a short break, Martijn returned to the Andersen Lab in July 2022 as a PhD student.

In his spare time, you can often find Martijn on a hockey field, where he is active as a player, trainer and coach. Alternatively, you will find him playing chess or a round of golf.
