The group has opportunities for motivated MEP and BEP students.

Two PhD positions are available:

PhD Position in Quantum Networks: Entanglement Distribution with Classical Communication Delays

Policies for distributing remote entanglement in quantum network typically assume that all nodes instantly know everything that happens in the network. In this project, the goal is to investigate whether we can avoid nodes waiting for everything and to best take actions based on partial information of the network. We will study how well such partial-knowledge policies perform compared to the global-knowledge case, and what the implications are for quantum network design.

Deadline: 15 August 2025

PhD Position 2: Enhancing Entanglement Quality in Quantum Networks

The goal of this PhD position is to expand, improve and evaluate our existing set of tools for improving the quality of entanglement between network nodes, such as the use of entanglement distillation and discarding low-quality entanglement (cut-off time). We will use simulation and analytical calculation for doing so.

This position includes few-months research stays at:

  • University of Naples Federico II (UNINA), Italy
  • EURECOM, France
