Boris Varbanov received a MSc degree in Applied Physics from Delft University of Technology. For his MSc thesis he joined the DiCarlo Lab, where he performed detailed simulations of transmon-based quantum error correction (QEC) codes and in particular of the effect leakage has on the performance of a surface code. This project lead to joining the Terhal Group in 2019, where his research remains focused on QEC codes and their realization in near-term experiments using superconducting processors.
In his spare time Boris enjoys cooking and exploring different cuisines. Apart from that he likes photography and traveling. He also likes to spend time with his friends, play video games or listen to music.
