FACULTY POSITION IN TOPOLOGICAL MATTER AND QUANTUM DEVICES
Delft University of Technology invites applications for a faculty position at QuTech for topological matter and quantum devices. Depending on the applicant’s profile, the position will be either as a senior researcher at QuTech or embedded as an assistant professor position in the Department of Quantum Nanoscience (QN) of the Faculty of Applied Sciences. Consideration of applications for a tenured associate or full professor level position may be given to exceptionally well qualified individuals.
We are looking for an excellent scientist with a research focus on harnessing topological quantum effects that have the potential to develop intrinsically robust quantum bits. Possible topics range from the physics of topological superconductivity, nanodevices hosting non-Abelian anyons to novel quantum bit architectures. The research direction should allow for synergy with the existing work on topological quantum computation within QuTech. Candidates are expected to have a successful scientific track record and be able to formulate an independent research program. If the faculty position is to be embedded in the QN department, the candidate is expected to participate in teaching.
QuTech, founded by Delft University of Technology and The Netherlands Organization for Applied Research (TNO), is a mission-driven research centre for quantum computing and quantum internet that aims to develop scalable prototypes of a quantum computer and inherently safe quantum internet based on superposition and entanglement, by bringing world-class scientists, engineers and industry together in an inspiring environment. The QN department comprises an internationally oriented research environment aiming for the understanding of physical processes at the nanoscale and the development of novel quantum materials and devices. Both QN and QuTech are part of the Kavli Institute of Nanoscience at Delft. Considerable institutional resources are available at TU Delft to support interdisciplinary and collaborative research ventures.
The successful applicant can expect a competitive start-up package to enable a quick start of their research program. Candidates will be appointed on a tenure-track basis with the prospect of a tenured position following a successful evaluation after maximally 5 years.
